First Lady Michelle Obama's conversation with America's nurses

Yesterday, First Lady Michelle Obama hosted a teleconference with more than 1,000 nurses across America.  The First Lady outlined the benefits of the Affordable Healthcare Act and called upon nurses to spread the word among the healthcare community.  Nurses have been an integral part of healthcare reform.    "From the very beginning, it’s been nurses who have sat at the table sharing your ideas, sharing your concerns and your experiences.  And as a result, all of you have helped to make this law even better.  So I want to thank you for that.  And we needed your help then and we need your help again to spread the word." - Mrs. Obama

Mrs. Obama's recognition of our role in healthcare and the community at large is much appreciated.  As the first line of contact with the patient community, nurses are and will continue to be health educators.  We are in an ideal position to help the community understand their disease, treatment protocols and healthcare reform.
